Traveling Europe by cooking morel mushrooms for people in their own home
Meet Ned! With 25 years of wisdom and experiences, he recently decided to quit his job in a Fortune 500 company in London, and go out to explore Europe in a fun and exciting alternative way.
For the next months he will be traveling through Western Europe.
But rather than traveling like everyone else, he brought with him pounds of dried morel mushrooms, to cook for his hosts and other mushroom enthusiasts.
And these aren’t just any mushrooms, they are AA quality grade morel mushrooms hand picked in the Northern forests of Canada.
This trip has the goal of promoting his mushroom company Velvet Morel while doing what he loves most: traveling. The objective is to meet restaurant owners and mushroom enthusiasts, to exchange a meal for hospitality, and spare morels to curious chefs.
Over the next few months, you might come across a guy asking you:
“Please host me, and in exchange I’ll cook up some morels!”
If you do, I promise you won’t regret having him over for a few days!! He is a gem of a person, always smiling with great stories and recipes.
Velvet Morel specializes in export and sale of premium morel mushrooms from canada. Founded by Ned in early 2016, the company has seen continuous growth and development, now being offered online and in select boutique stores across London.
After going to pick morel mushrooms in the Yukon Territories in Canada, Ned decided to embark on a crazy adventure to cook morel mushrooms to travel through Europe. The way he says it is:
“I am working on the development for a food company founded in London. Velvet Morel specializes in export and sale of morel mushrooms from Canada. Currently on a tour of Europe to meet potential clients, all the while eating like a chef!”
He believes it is all about how you see what you do. Some people will see in this a lucrative business opportunity. Others will see it as a waste of time. For him it’s a way to travel.
“I do not know what is in store for me for the next months. What I do know is that I am a mushroom merchant/traveller/cook.. Sure why not. That’s what I’m doing: developing a network of people who love my product, and in exchange I get to see an awesome part of the world.”
